Chlorpyrifos:
It's on your food and you don't know it
because growers are not mandated
to disclose poison
while organic growers have a higher standard.
It's curious that the US subsidies are available for these kinds of poisons to be used.
You can easily find this poison used on your corn, soybeans, nuts, Brussels sprouts, cranberries, broccoli, cauliflower and on golf course turf among other things. The long-term damage to humans is unknown and disregarded.
Here is what the EPA has to say about it.
"Using Chlorpyrifos Products Safely
The current chlorpyrifos labels require workers handling and applying chlorpyrifos to wear additional personal protective equipment (chemical resistant gloves, coveralls, respirators), and restricting entry into treated fields for 24 hours up to five days.
Chlorpyrifos can cause cholinesterase inhibition in humans at high enough doses; that is, it can overstimulate the nervous system causing nausea, dizziness, confusion, and at very high exposures (e.g., accidents or major spills), respiratory paralysis and death."
It should enrage you as a US taxpayer to know that you subsidize the use of poison.
