This blog began when it became clear that the numbers of people chronically ill and living in pain were growing at rates that were unexplainable. Their stories were similar and were filled with frustration and true fear. There seemed to be a great disconnect between the needs of those with mysterious symptoms and the medical services provided.
I too lived the experience of being terribly sick and believed by no one. Over a 15 year period I spent thousands of dollars trying to find the cause of my tired, painful and lethargic body without success. It would take another 15 years before taking a peek at wellness again.
Repeatedly I was given the flimsy diagnosis of fibromyalgia, chronic pain, depression and many other misdiagnoses. I instinctively knew none were the answer. I refused all medications because I was sure each diagnosis was incorrect and believed that feeling the symptoms would be key in finding the cause. With every new doctor, I would pray that this would be the one who believed me. That never happened.
Doctor after doctor said there was nothing wrong and so I would press on, trying to live a normal life while telling no one, but spending most of my days in bed. I never quit searching to find the cause and persevered until it became impossible to live normally. At that point, I broadened my investigation to include holistic and non-traditional treatments and began eliminating toxicity just as a matter of course because I could not think of anything else to try.
In the 15th year of illness I finally diagnosed myself. I was sure I was lead poisoned and within two hours had found proof of the source and began testing to prove that my body was contaminated. Lead, arsenic, cadmium and a lifetime of mercury from amalgam fillings were stored in my bones, tissue and brain. What to do next was the question.
Medical assistance for metals poisoning is still lacking. In those years it was almost non-existent. The head of toxicology in my city told me to take the pills he prescribed for a week and I would be well. That advice cost me another 5 years of intense pain and illness as I was far from free of the metals stored in my body. Believing I should be well, I again tried to carry on normally, but without success.
With a little research, it was clear that many chronically ill people are floundering within the medical system. They are shuffled from one specialist to another without any substantial change. Most are labeled with what I call “designer” conditions that have accompanying pharmaceuticals to mask symptoms, but there is rarely a Search for the Cause.
I firmly believe diet and toxicity are major players in the ever growing numbers who live with chronic conditions, autoimmune disease and cancers. The goal of Search for the Cause, Not Just the Cure is to bring awareness to the sources of toxicity we live with and the alternatives that could change our lives.
Search for the Cause, Not Just the Cure is a collection of notes and research that are the basis of my 30 year journey to find wellness. I call myself an “unwilling expert” on metals toxicity, but the truth is it was all trial and error. In the hopes of shortening the path to wellness for others, this site shares whatever information seems appropriate.
I am not a medical professional or a scientist. I don’t make claims for, or against, Western medicine, cancer cures or natural remedies, but I do have opinions based on my experiences. I will alway urge giving nature a try whenever possible.
There is a time for all facets of medicine and one must learn how and where they fit into recovery. Your viewpoint is the most important ingredient in healing.
Wellness is a journey and the path is not a straight line.Your success depends on making life changes that you understand and learn to enjoy. Your personal research is key as every single body is different and none will react exactly the same.
