Your nails, like your skin, absorb without discretion.
and contaminate the bloodstream.
The good and the bad become part of your daily intake.
Who even knew it could be bad for you!
The Breast Cancer Prevention Partners, an organization out of San Francisco that quietly works to reduce our daily chemical consumption, has made great strides in getting lower toxicity in thousands of products, including nail polish products. Companies like OPI, Sally Hansen and others did comply and reduced their toxicity levels in some of their products. It's been a change that seems to have been kept under wraps.
It sounds like cleaning up products would be headline news, but it is not with nail polish or many other items. In my research, I find that most manufacturers that create a healthier version of product also maintain their complete line of not so healthy products. Calling attention to the improved versions seems to scream danger..."We've been poisoning you for years."
To catch a ride on the coattails of improved products many manufacturers will say they are free of one or another chemical. That doesn't tell you anything about the rest of the contents. You can buy "pure, clean and natural" with poison still in the mix.
If cutting down toxicity matters to you, research is in your future. EWG.org or Think Dirty websites can help you find products that are clean.
