Dandelion Weed or Medicine?

Dandelion:  The Victim of Marketing.

You've been taught to believe that the dandelion
is the enemy of your yard, but is it?

So advertising will tell you this 'weed' has to be eradicated as the number one enemy of your yard.   If the dandelion had equal representation, the facts would change.  The bees and your body both love it.

When people ask what it does for the body, the answer is really what doesn't it do.  I say it's like eating carrots.  Your general health is boosted and improved, allowing your body to be supported to do the work it does naturally.

To be more specific, dandelion is loved by your liver.  It helps it detox which in turn allows your body to produce more glutathione which completes the cycle of helping you detox even more. Dandelion is a great contributor to creating more of the body's natural detoxification ability.

Dandelion is a great antioxidant, supports weight loss, assists with water retention and because it balances blood sugars it can assist with diabetes.  If you are detoxing heavy metals the glutathione support will make a difference.  Dandelion also assists with balancing candida in the gut.

You can buy dandelion as a capsuled supplement or dried herb, but pulling it straight out of your pesticide-free yard is the greatest reward.  Not only is it free, but it's satisfying to know that it is pure and homegrown.

You can eat the entire plant if it is to your liking.  That includes the leaves, the flowers and the root.  Some use it in salads and cooking.  Personally I just steep it for tea, using fresh or dried product.

With the power packed benefits of potassium, calcium and vitamins there is really no reason not to include it in your life.  The flavor of the leaves can be a bitter green flavor and teas are an earthy, very natural flavor.  Dandelion can be mixed with mint or another favorite tea, but no matter how you source it or use it, your liver will be grateful.
