After 15 years of extreme illness, chronic pain and no diagnosis other than depression, aging or fibromyalgia, I began to search for the true cause of what were real symptoms. What I discovered was that the possibilities were endless and as the symptoms worsened with time and became more complex, the possibilities grew.
Finally, after a decade and a half of searching, I discovered the cause. The chronic pain had a source. The source was not simply fibromyalgia or depression or aging as was repeatedly diagnosed. The cause was lead, arsenic and cadmium poisoning. Armed with the facts, the search moved on to finding the appropriate cure and not just treating symptoms.
Symptoms are often misdiagnosed as illnesses cross over and symptoms mimmic many other conditions. If your medical professional has a drug that seems appropriate, you can easily be misdiagnosed with the coordinating illness. The results are a lifetime of drugs that mitigate symptoms, but cannot cure.
I refused each offer of a fibromyalgia diagnosis because I knew it to be a name for the symptoms and not the cause of my pain and illness. Fibromyalgia has become a convenient insurance code that will get a doctor paid, but won't get a patient well. The medicines will make the symptoms diminish, but no one gets cured from them. Instinctively I knew to Search for the Cause, and Not Just the Cure.
Had I accepted the original diagnosis of depression, normal aging or fibromyalgia I expect my body would have quit by now. Get professional advice, but don't stop there.
